1. GSM Minimum requirements: The minimum GSM requirements for international students are-

Have to meet Australian Study Requirement, meaning obtain Australian qualification by studying on-campus course not online or distance course.

Should be of 18 to 49 age.

Minimum IELTS score of 6 (or equivalent English language specified test)

Nominate an occupation on Australia’s Skilled Occupation List (SOL). Those who are nominated by the state government should hold Consolidated Sponsored Occupations List (CSOL).

2. Improve English Language skills: If you can make your English language better then it can enhance the chance of getting PR. Overall score of 7 and 8 in IELTS can increase up to 10 and 20 points in PR respectively. 

3. Higher Education: To increase points in GSM you can boost your skills and knowledge by getting a Master or doctoral degree. The GSM points for a Master’s candidate is 15 and for a doctoral degree, it’s 20. 

4. Study in Regional Area: Students completing two years of Australia Study Requirements in regional areas tends to get 5 PR points.

5. Consider your age: Age matters in getting the points. As candidates between 25 to 32 can get up to 30 points while those between 45 to 49 gets none.

6. Work Experience:  If you have more years of work experience on the nominated SOL, you will get more points. You can also apply for Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485) where you can earn 5 extra points. 

7. Complete a Professional Year: The combination of work and education for 12 months is a Professional Year. If you have completed this program you can receive Australian work experience as well as extra 5 points for PR.
