Partner Provisional Visa (subclass 309)

This is a temporary visa that lets the partner of an Australian permanent resident or citizen, or an eligible New Zealand citizen, reside in Australia. It’s the first step to get a permanent partner visa (subclass 100).

While applying for this visa candidate should be outside Australia. You can stay in Australia temporarily until the government grants your permanent partner visa.

The process costs around AUD7,715. It usually takes around 22-24 months for the processing.

With this visa you can:

1. Live, work and study in Australia while processing for your permanent partner visa.
2. Travel to and from Australia as much as you want.
3. Take advantage of the Adult Migrant English Program’s free English language classes.

Partner Migrant Visa (subclass 100)

This is a permanent visa that lets the partner of an Australian permanent resident or citizen, or an eligible New Zealand citizen, reside in Australia. You must have a temporary Partner visa (subclass 309) to apply for this visa. 

When you applied for the combined temporary and permanent partner visas, you would have paid for this visa. It usually takes about 17-21 months for the processing.

With this visa you can:

1. Live, work and study in Australia permanently.
2. Sponsor for other eligible family members
3. Also can apply for Australian citizenship if eligible.
